Jeep and Ram transmissions:
Jeep and Ram have several versions of there 8HP transmission, we have seen several variations to this series of transmissions so far. The differences are spline counts and lengths as well as bolt patterns. Please look at the list below to see if we have your combination. If you are not sure, please contact our sales department.
Jeep JL 3.6L V6 and Turbo 4-cylinder, Automatic Transmission: These applications used the 850RE or (8HP50). The transmission has a 23 spline output and we offer our adapter kit 50-9900 that couples the transmission to a 23 spline STD Atlas input. The adapter is 7.5” long that lines up with the stock rubber crossmember support.
Jeep JL 3.6L V6, Manual Transmission: The transmission in this Jeep was called a D478. The bolt pattern is different than the 850RE/8HP50 and has a 43 spline output. Our adapter fits this manual transmission and retains the stock rubber crossmember support. Jeep uses a 43-spline output on this transmission, but we use a spud shaft in the adapter to work with the Atlas 23 spline STD length input. Kit 50-9901
Jeep JL 392: These Jeeps have a full-time transfer case with an 8HP75 or 8HP75PH transmission. This transmission has a 43-spline output shaft and an adapter that is part of the stock transfer case. We offer an adapter kit that couples to this transmission and allows you to install an Atlas 23 spline input to the 8HP75/8HP75PH transmission. Kit 50-9903
Jeep 4xE: These Jeeps have a 8HP75 or 8HP75PH transmission. This transmission has a 43-spline output shaft and an adapter that is part of the stock transfer case. We offer an adapter kit that couples to this transmission and allows you to install an Atlas 23 spline input to the 8HP75/8HP75PH transmission. Kit 50-9903
Jeep Diesel 2020 & Newer Auto Transmission: The 8HP75 transmission in this application uses a spacer adapter on the transmission. The transmission has a longer 23 spline output shaft the sticks out the back approximately 6.0". The bolt pattern is the same as the Jeep JL 850RE transmission. Kit 50-9904
Ram Hemi/ Grand Cherokee 8HP70: 23 spine output with a 4” stickout. The bolt pattern is different than the stock Jeep transmission, we do use the same raw casting but it is machined for the 8HP70 and 8HP95 bolt pattern. Our kit uses a 7.5" adapter with a 23 X 23 spline spud shaft to couple this transmission to the Atlas. P/N 50-9905
Ram TRX/Grand Cherokee Track Hawk 8HP95: 43 spine output with a 4.1” stickout. The bolt pattern is different than the stock Jeep transmission, we do use the same raw casting but it is machined for the 8HP70 and 8HP95 bolt pattern. Our kit uses a 7.5" adapter with a 43 X 23 spline spud shaft to couple this transmission to the Atlas. Kit Number 50-9906
Currently nothing available for the transmissions listed below:
Ram ECO Diesel 8HP70/75: 23 spine output with a unknown output shaft stickout. The bolt pattern is similar to the 850RE of the Jeep JL. We are working towards having this bolt pattern added to our 51-9900 casting. Not available currently.
Ram 3.6 V6 8HP50: 23 spine output with a 5.125” stickout (1” longer than the Jeep 850RE). The bolt pattern is the same as the Jeep JL 850RE. We need to get more data on this transmission output before we can offer a kit going to the Atlas transfer case. Not available currently.
