This kit is designed to use the stock GM 700R-4 4WD output shaft. The kit includes a new transfer case input gear with a 27 spline input to match the stock GM output shaft spline. The New Process transfer cases did use two different gear pitch designs in the transfer case, we offer two kits to match the correct transfer case input gear to the transfer case. New Process 231's from 1987 to 1994 would use this kit P/N 50-9104 and NP231's 1995 and up use kit 50-9105. These kits only fit the NP231 transfer cases and will not work if the transfer case has a 4:1 low gear set installed. The installation of the gear will require the complete disassembly of your NP231 transfer case. Since the transfer case has to be completely disassembled, this is also a good time to install a short output shaft kit (fixed yoke kit) if you already have not done so. Jeep Wranglers 1987-96 will require shifter bracket P/N 715523 or P/N 715545. P/N 715545 is the most universal for YJ Wranglers. TJ conversions will need bracket P/N 715542 to locate the complete linkage to the transmission and transfer case assembly. We have provided a crossmember plate if you choose to use a stock GM transmission rubber support P/N 716654. This plate bolts to our adapter using the two 3/4" long bolts. The stock rubber support would then be installed on top of this plate with the two support bolts going through the rubber support and our support plate holes and threaded into the transmission.
