Bellhousing Adapters:
712576 - Full Bellhousing to GM V8 engine (Use 26-TH4050)
712568 - Full Bellhousing to AMC Straight 6 and V8 (Use 26-TH4050)
Transfer Case Adapters:
Dana 300 - The TR-4050 has a positive shaft stickout from the rear. You can trim the shaft or use 50-8603 which will also allow some clocking options.
New Process Jeep Transfer Cases - The Jeep NP transfer case has 23 spline inputs and should bolt directly to the TR-4050. We recommend our transfer case cable shifter upgrade kit when coupling the NP231/ NP241 to the TR-4050. 715543.
Atlas Transfer Case - The Atlas will bolt directly to the rear of the TR-4050, The Atlas just needs the 23 spline input.
GM NP205 - The GM NP205 has three input options on the transfer case, 10, 27, and 32. We can currently bolt to the 10 splines with a coupler 52-9523 and adapter 50-2800. The output shaft on the TR-4050 will need to be trimmed. The 27 spline and 32 spline currently do not have any options.
Dodge NP205 - The Dodge NP205 can be coupled using kit 50-2800. The Dodge NP205 needs to be the 23-spline transfer case.
Ford NP205 - The Ford NP205 is a 31-spline transfer case. We offer and adapter that includes a spud shaft (23 X 31) that will fit the TR-4050 to the Ford T/C, 50-0207.
Ford Bronco Dana 20 - The adapter for the Dana 20 is the same as we use for the NV4500, 50-0209. This kit offers a spud shaft that couples the 23-spline TR-4050 to the Dana 20..
Toyota Land Cruiser - We offer three adapter kits to fit the TR-4050 to the three different transfer case input splines.
50-0300 fit the 10 spline
50-0301 fits the 16 spline
50-0302 fits the 19 spline

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the key advantages of the Tremec 4050 over other manual transmissions for off-road and heavy-duty applications?
The TR 4050 transmission is known for its durable components, smooth shifting and ability to handle high torque loads, all of which are must for off-roading and towing. It also has a compact form and several places to locate the shifter, which allows it to fit in many different vehicles without additional drivetrain modifications. Furthermore, Tremec gives the TR-4050 a very low first-gear ratio and a fifth-gear overdrive. This combo makes the transmission excellent for crawling and highway cruising alike.
What vehicles are compatible with the Tremec TR4050, and what modifications may be required for installation?
In OEM form, the Tremec TR4050 5-speed manual transmission will fit Jeep and Chrysler transfer cases that have a 23-spline output shaft along with the Chevy Silverado C3500 HD. Adapters are available to fit a variety of engines and transfer cases from GM, Dana, Toyota, Ford and other manufacturers. In some cases, you may also want to add a cable shifter upgrade kit. Note the transmission was designed for longitudinal engines in 4WD/RWD trucks and may not work with transverse FWD engines.
How does the gear ratio of the Tremec TR 4050 enhance low-speed control and highway drivability?
The TR-4050 has a 6:13:1 first gear ratio, which is one of the lower first gears available on aftermarket 4x4 transmissions still being built. This ratio maximizes torque delivery, helping with low-speed applications such as crawling and overlanding. It’s also a great ratio to get rolling from a stop on steep hills or when towing. On the other end of the spectrum, the 0.76:1 fifth-gear “overdrive” is excellent for highways and other high-speed driving. Using overdrive reduces engine RPMs for less strain and improves fuel efficiency.
