This idler shaft kit is designed to use the 38MM low range gear set we offer for the FJ60 and FJ62 Land Cruisers. This kit allows you to install these gears into a 34MM case.
The kit has a special designed idler shaft that steps down for 34MM case. The kit also includes two new thrust washers for the 34MM case and then two new idler needle bearings and a new spacer to fit the larger gear bore (38MM). The modifications to the case are the same on the both The 34 and 38MM cases and these modifications are listed on the low gear set P/N 716938.
The early 34MM cases used two different input gear lengths. The gears could be 45MM long or 50MM long. The gear we supply is the longer 50MM length input. If you have the stock 45MM gear the stock spacer that rides up against the bearing will cause alignment issues with the new input gear to the cluster. We have provided a new spacer that will set the proper distance on the input gear (New spacer only used if your stock T/C had a 45MM long gear).
