Advance Adapter
The GM TH350 adapter to the Dana 18 / 20 is a short 1.850". And the overall length of transmission and adapter is 23.35". The adapter material is 356 T-6 heat treated aluminum alloy and the adapter has a provision for a transmission. The adapter kit includes a adapter housing, new 4wd TH350 output shaft, 6 spline spud shaft, nylon bushing, bearing, snap ring, o-ring, seal, gasket, fastening hardware and adapter instruction.
Note: The 4WD TH350 stock output shafts are getting hard to come by, which has increased their price. Unfortunately, we have had to adjust the kit pricing. Check with your local transmission shop to see if they have a shaft in stock for less than $120.00. If so, you can order this kit minus the output shaft. P/N 50-3001
Transfer Case
Stock 6 spline transfer case: This adapter assembly will fit any Dana Spicer 18 / 20, Scout version with a 6 tooth female drive gear. The transfer case index to the new adapter will require an index retainer & sealed bearing. Please I.D. the transfer case bore size (3-1/8") small hole or (4") large hole for proper retainer. Stock 10 spline transfer case: This adapter assembly will also fit any Dana Spicer 18 / 20 version with a 10 tooth female drive gear. The transfer case index to the new adapter will require an index retainer & sealed bearing. Please I.D. the transfer case bore size (3-1/8") small hole or (4") large hole for proper retainer. You will need to purchase a new 6 spline drive gear, J0809297. This *20 Degree pressure angle gear fits model 18 transfer cases with 2.46:1, w/ T14 transmission, 1 ¼” intermediate shaft CJ with Buck V6 (68-71).
If you have a Jeepster, you will need J5354506. This is a 17 Degree pressure angle gear: Model 18 transfer cases with 2.03:1, w/ T14 transmission, 1 ¼” intermediate shaft Jeepster/CJ (67-74).
Transmission
This adapter kit is designed for exclusive use with the 2wd GM TH350 automatic transmission. This GM automatic was commonly found stock in vehicles from 1969-81. It was used in both pickups and car applications. On 2wd transmissions, GM used three different tailhousing lengths. These lengths of the tailhousing are 6", 9", and 12". The output shaft length corresponds with these tailhousing lengths.
