Aftermarket Dana 18 Low-Range Gears
Our 3.15:1 gear set for Dana 18 transfer cases will give serious off-roaders, towers and racers the torque they need at low speeds. The Dana Spicer 18 offset transfer case was used in 1941-71 Jeeps and is one of the more famed transfer cases. However, its low gear ratio of 2.46:1 can be limiting for the most extreme rock crawlers and mudders. This Dana 18 low-gear transfer case reduces the gear by 28%, increasing pull for maneuvering around obstacles and driving up steep hills. Install it in your D18 transfer case to adapt the drivetrain to how and where you explore the outdoors.
These gears are built to handle up to 300 ft.-lbs. of torque, well within the range of a stock V8.
Dana 18 Transfer Case Kit (3.15:1 low range gears)
The Dana 18 kit (Part No. 418315) fits large hole transfer cases only. This four-gear kit requires the shortening of the shift rod for intermediate gear clearance. A slight amount of internal case grinding may be necessary.
Add our low gear set to any Jeep or IH Scout truck that has the Dana Spicer Model 18 transfer case with a 6-spline input. CJs 1965 and older will require the use of a case from either a 1966-71 CJ, a 1963-79 Wagoneer/pickup (Dana 20) or a 1972-79 CJ (Dana 20). If a Dana 20 transfer case is to be used with the Dana 18 components, you will still be able to retain your stock driveshaft offset.
For Warn and Saturn O.D. owners, we offer a complete gear set to retain your overdrive using the 3.15:1 low gears (Part No. 418315OD). We also offer just the Saturn Overdrive bowl gear if you have already obtained your low gear set (Part No. 911098).
